It’s funny how some of us have started this year with turning Eba at 3 am and acting like it’s all chill. After all the health goals you set for yourself. Kai! May the Lord have mercy on you us.
And the people of God shall say a big?
Amen!
Thank you
I received an email from one of my favourite creators over the years Dimeji Ajegbile and he said something that deeply resonated with me, being not too hyped about the new year. Now hold on, let me explain
You see, you can map out 52 goals to achieve in this new year, but a new year automatically doesn't translate into a new you. It's still the same as you in just another year.
Do you remember when we used to tie wrappers around our necks, fling them to the back, run around the house or jump on the chairs so that the wrapper flowed behind us and then start mimicking that we were one of the Marvel/DC superheroes?
I for one mimicked Batman, but the whole wrapper and mask stunt didn't make me Batman, after I took the wrapper off with whatever thing I had added, I was back to being Fiyinfoluwa. Nothing changed
I didn't start flying or releasing spider webs from my fingers or suddenly had the strength of Thor. It was me! Ordinary me.
It's the same way I see every New Year in its relation to goal-setting. You get very hyped to be who you are not at the start of the year, sophisticated with your goals and targets but what you forget is that you are the same person who only accomplished 4 in 52 goals the previous year of which two were by encouragement from your goons.
So what's with the sudden “New Year, New Me?”. In another instance, in December, there was a decision I needed to take, it didn’t matter when in December I took the decision but what was important was that the decision had to be made before December was over even if it was the last day in the month
December could have been any other month, it could have been February, May or August. Do you get the point?
I want you to truly consider everything you’ve set out to achieve this year and eliminate the ones you know you wrote down out of pressure. There’s no pressure anywhere except the one you put on yourself or allow others to place on you.
Life is in stages, life shouldn't be rushed and if you are in your 20s, my dear relax and breathe! With God, your life cannot spoil like Fried rice (this was said by one of the sweet women in my life while we were on a call on the 31st of December and it just made so much sense to me) because you know, Fired rice if not properly persevered might not survive some hours not to talk of the next day.
“As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.””
Romans 10:11 NLT
With God, my life cannot spoil like Fried Rice.
I hope this mail does a thing or two for you
From me to you, Happy New Year 💕🕊️
