Necessary Losses
Would you say yes?
Would You Say Yes?
We most times come to points and intersections in our lives where we just know that we have to hand over the wheels to God, because the things that are happening to us are beginning to go beyond us.
And I’ll explain what I mean.
I have not lived for so long, but I have encountered quite a number of tangible losses in different spheres of my life, losses in people, losses in opportunities, losses in different areas, sections, and fragments of my life. Some of these losses were loud and deeply painful, while others felt surface-level, almost subtle. But they were losses nonetheless.
Not too long ago, I listened to a sermon where the preacher spoke about knowing that everything that happens to you, good or bad, is working together for your good. He said that God has already factored whatever is happening in your life, whatever has happened, and whatever will happen, into the script He has written for you. So nothing comes as a surprise to God. Nothing shocks Him.
Then he said something that really stayed with me.
He said you can’t look at Joseph’s life and say it was outside God’s will. Joseph was sold into slavery. He wasn’t kidnapped by Pharaoh. His own brothers sold him. They told his father he was dead. And yet, it was still God’s will
I asked myself again,
Could it be that everything that has happened to me, both the very painful things and the ones that felt less intense, were ultimately for my good?
I have questioned this many times.
Because to me, this realization is a consolation.
It seems that many of us, because we are Christians and we Love the Lord, hold a belief system subconsciously, that our lives will be smooth, devoid of trials, pain, temptation, and obstacles. But Scripture reminds us that the struggles we go through are the same struggles our brethren all over the world are experiencing (1 Peter 5:9). In other words, these things are not unique to you.
So today, I want you to look above your loss or your losses. Whichever applies to you.
Let that thing go.
Look above the things that have stung you more deeply than a bee’s sting ever could.
God says He has come to bind up the brokenhearted, to set the captives free, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord (Isaiah 61:1–2). And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty; there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
You should give God a chance.
Open up to Him. Release the pain, the guilt, the grief, and allow Him to work on you.
It won’t be easy. I’m not even going to lie to you.
You may look like you’re making progress, and then it feels like you’re taking five steps back. But do not stop. Just make sure you are always there, in His presence, at His feet.
So! Would you give your yes to God?
I ask that question because most times, we like the easy way out. We like the kind of answers that don’t stress us, that fix everything quickly, that make our dreams come true like fairy tales. But there is no easy way out. You may have to work on yourself. And sometimes, all you can afford to do is sit with your pain and allow the Lord to meet you there.
It may take time, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). I go lie for you?
And I promise you, at the end of it all, you will see that everything was coming together for your good.
I love you dearly beloved.
See you next week
