Ogbono Please Draw!

Have you ever had a visitor at your place and you had to cook, then from nowhere this sudden fear of “make I no go do mistake” comes upon you???

That's how we had a visitor in my house during the week, although the person is quite young, either young or old, a visitor is a visitor.

I was to prepare Semo and Ogbono soup and for some reason, I can not say I like cooking Ogbono exactly but it's not like I won't prepare it if I'm asked to.

Brethren, that’s how I started cooking oo, I prepared the Semo first, wrapped it in sections for each person, kept it aside and started to make my Ogbono…. I never knew this Ogbono had other plans for me.😂😂

And so did the journey begin

I had set everything for the preparatory stage, pepper, crayfish, oil, and other things too, you know now

Cooking began and it was time to add my Ogbono paste (already diluted with Palm oil), that’s how I added it oo and began to stir…. Brethren lo and behold kini yii o ma draw (this thing did not draw).

As I was stirring it, I was just saying God please, have mercy on me, God please😭😭. That's how I went to carry my phone ooo

I started asking Google “What can make my Ogbono not to draw?”

Google said maybe too much water or too little Ogbono in a large amount of already prepared sauce (or whatever you call it).

I was like “Oh, that's small” brethren!!😭 I added more Ogbono ooo, I almost used the whole stuff, e no draw oooo (it didn't draw) Nawa oooo

It was at that point I knew I was in for it. This embarrassment wasn't going to elude me. But I didn't give up! Somebody say Never Give Up! A whole Olowoshibi😭 give up ke. I no gree ooo

I picked up my phone again and scattered Google this time, that’s how I met myself on the streets of X, I saw a thread about this woman who had a similar problem and was soliciting help…. The comment section was useful yet funny

Before I would get distracted, I left the app quickly…. I got one or two hints that didn't still work out because I didn't have what they required.

I started speaking to the Ogbono as though it were a living thing

I beg you…. Please draw

I accepted my fate and didn’t know how I was going to serve Ogbono that wasn’t drawing to our visitor…. The embarrassment would be more on me.

I first went to give my brother his food in his room and I said “Guy…. The Ogbono no draw oo”, he looked at me and asked what had happened I said I don’t know cause I truly didn’t know 😭

I served our visitor’s food too, dashed out of the house and headed to my mum’s shop to give her hers

On getting to the shop, I brought out her food and said “Mummy, the Ogbono did not draw oo, I don't know why”

She was like Kilosele

Didn't you do it well?

Brethren, as soon as she tasted the food, after downing some morsels, she just looks at me and says “Ogbono to ti pe nile ni” meaning “It's old ogbono, more like already stale”

It was at this point I remembered that in my search, one of the reasons why they mentioned Ogbono may not draw is when it has been poorly preserved and has stayed for too long before finally being used to cook.

Like icing on the cake, the Ogbono had one sour aftermath taste in the mouth. It gave me all the validation I needed to accept that it was not my fault. But who would explain all these things to our visitor now?😩😩

The Ogbono was gifted to my mum, it was sealed and packaged (too much for Ogbono Mehnnn😂), perhaps the sealing and packaging made it lose its value before due time.

It won't work your way unless you let God do it His way.

You can decide to add spice and life to your ideas but if you don't understand what God will have you do with the material He has placed in your hands, you will be confused that certain things aren't working out as you have planned.

It's not all clear in my head as to how I want to put it down…. But I hope this makes sense to you in the best way possible
